OUR HISTORY
Begun by meeting in homes in May 1982, Christ Fellowship, began meeting in the Community Center at Pine Knoll Apartments in June of that year. By October of that year, we found a home in a building on Trump Street in Oak Hill. Around 1988 we expanded the building by adding a trailer. We spent our first 20 years of ministry in this faciility, reaching out to the Oak Hill and Fayetteville Communities.
A move of a God was beginning ... out of a desire to let God lead our lives on a daily basis, our church's roots grow out of his work and service to God.
In 2000, we purchased a property at the end of Maple Avenue that had an office building. Converting it into a school, we made it the home for The Learning Center, an educational program for school-aged children.
In 2002, it was decided that it was time to build our own church next to The Learning Center. Construction began in the fall of 2002, and was completed in May of 2003. Since that time we have endeavored to used our facilities to reach out to the community of Fayetteville with the love of God. We want to see God's love and healing come to all the people of Fayette County, that they might know the wonderful experience of his forgiveness and fellowship.
It is looking good, here are some adjustments. We started in homes in May, 1982, by June we were at Pine Knoll. By October we were in the (one) church building on Trump Street. It was around 1988 we added the trailer. The Learning Center was purchased in the spring of 2000. I need to check about the year of church construction.
I also want to think about the second paragraph. I want more stress on the work of God to form our church and include Rev Helm as a part of God's doing. The current form might suggest to some people that Brother Helm's ministry started it not God. I think it good to include Rev Helm's ministry because it is so biblical.
